DevOps Engineer

Location: Kansas City, MO (Remote-First) Type: Full-Time Level: Mid to Senior

Join Pumpfiat as a DevOps Engineer and build the reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure that powers high-volume data processing and client delivery. Your work will ensure our systems remain fast, resilient, and compliant at scale.

About the Role

You’ll own our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and security practices. Working closely with backend, data, and deliverability engineers, you’ll automate everything, eliminate toil, and enable rapid, confident deployments.

This is a remote-first role with a preference for candidates able to collaborate effectively with the Kansas City, MO timezone.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
• Strengthen security posture — IAM, encryption, vulnerability scanning, compliance controls.
• Automate operational tasks and improve system reliability and performance.
• Support data pipeline scalability and cost optimization.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of DevOps/SRE experience in production environments.
• Strong proficiency with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS) and IaC (Terraform preferred).
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins).
• Deep knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes a plus).
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) for automation.
• Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Ownership mindset — you proactively improve reliability and reduce toil.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data-intensive workloads or big data tools.
• Familiarity with observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Contributions to infrastructure open-source projects.
• Experience supporting compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR).
