Deliverability Engineer

Location: Kansas City, MO (Remote-First) Type: Full-Time Level: Senior

Join Pumpfiat as a Senior Deliverability Engineer and ensure every message from our clients lands in the inbox — not spam. You’ll own warm-up strategies, reputation monitoring, and deliverability optimization at massive scale.

About the Role

You’ll be the expert on inbox placement, sender reputation, and email infrastructure. Working closely with engineering, customer success, and clients, you’ll design and execute warm-up playbooks, troubleshoot deliverability issues, and continuously improve our systems to maintain world-class inbox rates.

This is a remote-first role with a preference for candidates able to collaborate effectively with the Kansas City, MO timezone.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and automate domain/email warm-up sequences and throttling strategies for clients.
• Monitor sender reputation across major ISPs (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc.) using tools like Google Postmaster, SNDS, and blacklists.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deliverability issues for high-volume campaigns.
• Advise clients on best practices for content, authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and engagement.
• Build internal tools and dashboards for real-time deliverability monitoring and alerting.
• Stay ahead of ISP policy changes and emerging threats (spoofing, phishing filters).
• Collaborate with engineering to improve infrastructure for authentication, feedback loops, and bounce handling.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on email deliverability experience in a high-volume environment.
• Deep expertise in email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI) and ISP policies.
• Experience with deliverability monitoring tools (Google Postmaster, Return Path, 250ok, GlockApps, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills — you can interpret seed test results, engagement metrics, and reputation data.
• Technical background: scripting (Python preferred), APIs, and basic infrastructure knowledge.
• Proven track record of maintaining 95%+ inbox placement at scale.
• Excellent communication — you can explain complex deliverability concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience building deliverability tools or dashboards.
• Background in compliance or anti-spam operations.
• Certifications (e.g., Certified Email Deliverability Professional).
• Experience with large-scale ESPs or sending platforms.
